Metered Residential Propane

For 10 years Chapman Propane has offered a unique program called metered gas. This program is convienient for the customer because Chapman Propane owns the equipment and fills your tank regularly. Between the first and fifth of each month, we call our customers to get a meter reading and a tank percentage.

As seen below the meter is quite simple to read. Our meters have four numbers on the front, and with a simple calculation (shown below) our customers can see what their using as well. Charges include a $10.00 monthly service fee plus the gas used at the current fuel rate.

Currently Chapman Propane is the only supplier in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area to offer a system like this. Generally we only offer this program to customers with propane heating, hot water heaters, and one additional propane appliance (i.e. gas stove, gas log, oven, etc...). Here is our simple equation to figure usage each month.

(Current Month's Reading - Previous Month's Reading) x 100 divided by 36.39=Gallons Used

Here is an example. Imagine your meter reads 50 this month and it read 40 last month, here is the calculation.

(50 - 40) x 100=1000

1000 divided by 36.39=27.5 Gallons Used
